Cross-country Team

Both our girls' and boys' cross-country teams were selected to race at State this year. It's unusual for teams to make it to State in their first five years, so we are particularly proud of their achievements in such a short time. At the State meet on Wednesday, October 21, Ryan B. took fifth place and was selected for the All State cross-country team. Overall the boys' team placed seventh and the girls' team placed eighth. Congratulations to cross-country coach Toni Fairchild and to both of our cross-country teams!

Debate Team

The Maeser debate team participated in its first tournament on Wednesday, October 21 – the Juan Diego Congreso del Fuego. They took home ten trophies and took third place overall. In Varsity, Lexi P. placed fifth; in JV, Flavia L. took first place and Raquel Z. placed fourth; and in Novice, Neal E. took first, Grant S. took second, Joey K. took third, Heidi H. and Odeion O. took fourth, Heather B. and Justin S. took fifth place. The team is now gearing up for the Dixie Debate tournament this weekend in St. George. It looks like another hugely successful year is on the way for debate coach Cindy Pedersen and all of our outstanding debaters!

Shakespeare Competition

Maeser Prep took this year's Shakespeare competition by storm! In the Westminster (Upper School) Division, Maeser took first place in Sweepstakes, which is the overall award tabulating everyone's contributions! Also in the Westminster Division: our ensemble scene (from Much Ado About Nothing) took second place; Mimi H. took first place for Mono and won the Barbara Berret Award; Tamela D., Matt F. and McKenzie B. took second place for Duo/Trio; Danielle L. and Dylan G. took third place for Duo/Trio; and Eryn S. and Liz C. took third place for Dance Duo. In the Stratford (9th grade) Division, Zoe F. took second place in Mono. Congratulations to Cam Cahoon, Matt Kennington, Justin Kennington, and our amazing troupe of Shakespearean performers!

The students who competed at the Shakespeare competition will reprise their performances for parents on Tuesday, October 27 -- see the list of upcoming events below for details.

SPIRIT SHIRTS

The Maeser Prep Cheerleading Team is selling SPIRIT SHIRTS. These can be worn to games and sporting events, out in the community, and on any board-sanctioned spirit days. These are great for students, parents, grandparents, friends and family. Show your support for Maeser Prep, your student, and all of our sports teams! Shirts are $10 each. Contact a cheerleader or Mrs. Millward at jenessa.millward@maeserprep.org for more information, or to order your shirt today!

FALL FOOD DRIVE

The Maeser Prep PTO is sponsoring a fall Food Drive for the Community Action Food Bank from now until Thanksgiving. The Food Bank needs all items that a family regularly purchases for their own household:

  • Nonperishable commercially packaged food items (peanut butter, canned vegetables, fruit, soups, chili, meats, tomato sauce)
  • Nonperishable commercially packaged dry goods (powdered milk, spaghetti, rice, dry beans, noodles)
  • Hygiene items (toilet paper, bar soap, powdered laundry soap, shampoos)

All donations should be placed in the large Food Drive barrels located at the school.
